The Range

Built for a hectare of glass and garden

From a single dressing-room window to a whole wall of glass facing the paddocks — every piece below is made to measure and fitted by the people who measured it.

Roller Blinds

Blockout, sunscreen or a double roller across the wide panes of a great room — made to the width, not a standard size.

Day and night blind lowered over the window of a charcoal-walled Cornwall Hill dining room, its alternating sheer and solid bands laying stripes of late-afternoon light across the chairs beneath three brass pendants

Day & Night Blinds

Filtered garden light by day, full privacy from the driveway by evening — dialled in one continuous band.

Explore
Pale aluminium venetian blind fitted inside the reveal above the double butler sink of a Cornwall Hill scullery, slats half tilted towards jacaranda blossom in the paved service courtyard

Timber & Aluminium Venetians

Warm timber slats for a study lined in stone and wood; marine-style aluminium for the scullery and tack room.

Wide fabric vertical louvres drawn across the full run of stacking doors in a Cornwall Hill family room, terracotta tiles and a sleeping labrador in front of them and the lawn showing between the vanes

Vertical & Panel Blinds

Wide sliding doors onto the veranda, covered edge to edge without a single seam showing.

Explore
Concealed roller blind dropping from a plastered ceiling pocket down the double-volume glazed wall of a Cornwall Hill entrance hall, a potted olive tree beside it and open veld beyond the steel frames

Concealed / Recessed Blinds

Built into the ceiling before the plaster goes on — for the double-volume window that shouldn't show a bracket.

Explore

Cellular Honeycomb Blinds

Insulating air-cells that soften a frosty highveld morning and a blazing January afternoon both.

Explore

Motorised Blinds & Automation

One app, every blind on the ground floor — essential once a run of glass outgrows a chain.

Explore
Motorised curtain track recessed into the ceiling of a Cornwall Hill main bedroom, carrying lined curtains and a sheer part-way across the glazed wall while the last of the sun catches the room

Motorised Curtain Tracks

Heavy lined curtains gliding shut at the touch of a button, or on a schedule that beats you home.

Explore
A run of external venetian blinds shading the dining-room glazing along a stone Cornwall Hill facade at sunset

External Venetian Blinds

Heat stopped at the glass, before it ever reaches the great room.

Explore
Charcoal aluminium roller shutter half-lowered in its side guides over a timber-framed door on a sandstone-quoined Cornwall Hill facade, the gravel path still wet after Highveld rain — a shading shutter, not a security-rated one

Roller Shutters

Shade that reads as architecture — sun and glare stopped at the facade, hail season covered too.

Shading, not security. These shutters are here to handle sun, heat and glare on the outside of the glass. Security-rated shutters are a separate product entirely — say the word and we will quote you on those instead.

Explore

Folding-Arm Awnings

Shade over the entertaining stoep on demand, retracted clear for the last of the winter sun.

Made For The Window, Not A Catalogue

Measured on site. Made to that opening. Fitted by the team who measured it.

No two elevations on a Cornwall Hill stand face the same way, and after a full hectare of garden and paddock, no two windows are quite the same size either. Every blind, roller shutter and awning starts with a free in-home measure, so what arrives is made for that exact opening — inside or outside the reveal, whichever suits the frame — never trimmed on site to fit.

Why Cornwall Hill Is Different

Built for a hectare of hill, garden and glass

Cornwall Hill's stands run close to a full hectare, wrapped in mature trees and the gentle rise and fall of ground that gave the estate its name. That scale changes what a window actually needs.

The Light Shifts With The Ground

A lounge that's dappled and green at nine in the morning can be a wall of glare by four in the afternoon, once the sun drops behind the ridge line and finds west-facing glass square on. Sun-control fabrics and external venetians are specified by elevation, not guessed.

Wide Elevations, Wide Glass

Double-volume entrances, great rooms and glass walls facing the paddocks are the estate's signature — and the reason most Cornwall Hill projects end up motorised. A run of glass that size was never going to work on a hand chain.

Estate Guidelines, Respected

Like most secure lifestyle estates, Cornwall Hill carries architectural guidelines covering anything visible from outside the home. Exterior roller shutters, awnings and external blinds are specified in finishes an aesthetics committee will actually approve.

How It Works

From enquiry to a properly shaded home

  1. 01

    Enquire

Tell us about the rooms, the glass and the timeline — by chat, form or phone.

  2. 02

    Free In-Home Measure

A consultant visits the property, measures every window and talks through what suits each elevation.

  3. 03

    Written Quote

A clear, itemised quote per window — nothing ordered until you've signed off. As a planning band beforehand, shading on this estate runs R1,000 to R7,500 per square metre installed — indoor cloth blinds down at the bottom of that, external systems and motorised awnings at the upper. A floor price applies to narrow openings, and your own totals come out of the visit.

  4. 04

    Made & Fitted

Each piece made to the exact opening and fitted by the team who measured it.

About This Service

A measure-make-and-fit service for estate homes

Cornwall Hill Blinds specifies, manufactures and installs window shading for homes on this estate and the estates around it. Nothing is bought in a standard size. Roller blinds, external venetians, motorised systems and folding-arm awnings are all manufactured to sizes taken from your own openings, and hung by the people who measured them.

The route is always the same. You enquire by chat, form or phone; one of our expert consultants will contact you shortly, and the free in-home measure gets scheduled, gate access included. At that visit each window is measured, each elevation is assessed, and fabric, openness and control are matched to what the room really faces through the day. A written quote follows, itemised per window, and nothing is ordered until you have signed it off. Then the shading is manufactured to those measurements, fitted, levelled and demonstrated.

The same service extends to Irene, Southdowns Estate, Midstream Estate and Centurion Golf Estate. Anything you send is used only to arrange the call-back and is processed under POPIA.

Questions

Before you book the measure

Do exterior roller shutters and awnings need estate approval first?

Cornwall Hill's aesthetics committee reviews anything visible from outside the home. We talk finish and colour through with you before anything is ordered, and can supply spec sheets if your estate committee needs to sign off.

Is motorisation really necessary for a full wall of paddock-facing glass?

Once a run of glass gets wide, a chain becomes impractical to operate day to day. Motorised control is the practical answer — often the only sensible one — with a single remote or app running a whole wall at once.

What happens to an awning or external blind in a highveld hailstorm?

Motorised exterior products are fitted with a wind sensor that auto-retracts before gusts build. That's the responsible spec for anything mounted outside, not an optional extra.

Are the blinds safe with children and animals on the property?

Cordless, motorised or properly tensioned chain operation is used as standard across the range — no dangling cords left within reach.

Do you fit homestead-style homes as well as contemporary architect builds?

Yes. Timber venetians suit a homestead-style facade with deep verandas, while concealed recess and external venetian systems suit a contemporary glass build. The free measure visit is where we match the product to the actual window.

Inside mount or outside mount — which suits a deep window reveal?

An inside (recess) mount sits tailored and minimal within the frame, provided there's enough recess depth. An outside (face) mount covers more of the frame for fuller blockout and can make a smaller window feel larger — we advise per window at the free measure.
